First night @ Seoul. Wandering the streets searching for a good place for dinner.
1st dinner!
In the subway where we were making so much noise, the koreans were glaring at us.
In front of Dongdaemun
Day 2 - At the Seoul International Youth Hostel
Our hostel room.
Opening Ceremony
The heads of the various national delegations had to give a speech. totally impromptu. gosh, nerve wrecking.
The Singapore Chapter of the Asian Law Students Association!
Where we had the welcome party on the 1st night. At a pub on the highest level of this building. It was pretty cool, with free flow of booze and really good food.
3rd day was just Governing Council meetings and more meetings.
4th day - Went to the National Assembly (equivalent to our parliament house) & the National Human Rights Commission of Korea
In front of the Human Rights Commission
that's the national assembly building! isn't it grand and majestic?
our luncheon at the national assembly. That was not all the food. *rubs tummy*
with lin & linda (korean caretaker)
Best dinner we had in Seoul! BBQ Pork~ Delicious-yo!
We look totally satisfied!
Outside the resturant
5th day
Cultural Night!
We sang "singapore town" and bribed them with pineapple tarts and almond cookies.
I wanted a hanbok so badly but they were so expensive. sulks.
6th day - Tour of the palace & the museum (which i did not take pics of cuz i was too tired)
Gloomy palace. Weather sucked big time , it never rains but pours.
With our Korean caretaker, Seung Won.
With Wenzhao in front of the 400 yr old tree he insisted we should take a pic with.
my 15000won ($24.50) lunch
at this restaurant. really pretty. and it was extremely comforting to have lunch there because it was raining cats and dogs outside.
Last night in Seoul. Played drinking games with a whole bunch of people (koreans, singaporeans, HKers, indonesians)
Forfeit! Tsk. Kinyew looks totally sad. ha
my roomies! 4 SG gals + 2 Japanese gals (one missing from the pic)
Erina let me wear her yukata! i look darn fat with my layer of clothes underneath.
Miss these gals!
On the flight back home.. SQ rocks! But we were too tired to enjoy the huge screen

Since the balloting system refused to grant me any tickets for the actual National Day Parade....
A room at Swissotel is the way to go!
People starting to form the Singapore Flag @ the Padang
Almost done...
Done!!
When dusk came.. Singapore looks even prettier than the last time I saw it.
St Andrew's Cathedral
Fireworks!
This year's NDP has been extremely memorable, from the moment the SQ pilot announced that we would be landing on the 9th of August which is Singapore's National Day, till the last moment of the fireworks.
I've been away for 3 weeks, to 2 very different countries. I have had my share of fun and though I could and would love to live in the States (not in Seoul though, the communication breakdowns frustrate me), Singapore is my home and really, there is no where I rather be..

Back home, I marked my terrority in the bathroom.
The island where I am most of the time.
Some outdoor pics, this one taken outside the garage.
Sprawling grounds~ and look at the clear blue skies
A wonderful piece of nature just minutes from home
A typical afternoon, no jams, not many cars on the road. Gosh, I miss that.
Lunch on the 2nd day at .... Macdonalds. Yes, how can we not have macdonalds?! The southwest salad was SO good we had it again the next day.
After lunch shopping. Look at how huge the fitting room is. Unbelievable. Americans may be fat but this is just............over the top.
Dropped by Krispy Kremes after dinner. Our breakfast for the next few days.
Loots after 3 days of shopping. Recognise some of your VS panties? haha
In chronological order, taken midway tru the trip. The view from the backyard of the house. >
The back of the house
The Chargriller that cooked perfectly crispy and tasty chicken wings for dinner. And the best thing was, I didn't end up smelling like crap.
Interior of the house. Stairway leading to the 2nd storey where the rooms are and where the laundry room is.
My bedroom! Small but cozy. I have slight complaints about the choice of comforter though. tee hee
My wardrobe.
About about a week of shopping. The thought of how to pack all these into my suitcase didn't bother me then.

The amazing toilet bowl at the Narita airport with many buttons which allow you to conceal the sounds of your "activity" with music and various flushing sounds.
Right...............
They assume everyone reads and speaks japanese.
Inside the brother-in-law's car Took me a while to get used to the right-hand driving
Hello LA!
Upon arriving in San Diego, we had lunch at the Original Pancake House (which has since been known fondly as OPH). This was where the waiter got the orders wrong and offered us a pecan waffle on the house. This was also where the free refills of coffee and drinks started~
Then it was off to the Carlsbad Premium Outlets! GAP~ dirt cheap.
When I got hungry, we decided to grab something from this chocolate factory. Imagine a whole slice of cheesecake sorta frozen, dipped into warm chocolate and rolled about in almond bits. HEAVEN!
Juicy Couture! Stuff are pretty to look at but way too expensive.
After about 2 hours of shopping, here're the results~ We emerged victorious!

I'm back! After 18 hours in the air, I've never been more glad to see Changi Airport. Even the ugly Singaporean behaviour (yes, there were many on board) became more tolerant.
Now, need to unpack 2 luggages full of stuff. Mostly food like Reese's peanut butter cups and butterfingers.
And to sort out photos. all 300 of them. his brother-in-law is indeed paparazzi-like photographer..
gosh. I missed Singapore and all my friends, but now, I miss San Diego and everyone.
